Ah. Another Sunday Evening contemplating the upcoming week. I’m sure it will come with it’s challenges but you know what? I’m thinking positive today. And I’m geared up and ready to tackle whatever tomorrow brings.  In fact… I actually can’t wait to go to sleep because:

A) I am usually exhausted by the end of the day

B) I love wearing my uber comfy Packer Jammies (yes I know. But we’ll be back again next year!)

Seriously, who doesn’t LOVE breakfast? Every breakfast food in the world is amazing and I want you to be as excited as I am, so I want to share with you 2 of my go-to breakfast (or lunch, or snack, or pre workout, or just cause I want something sweet) recipes. The Holidays are upon us. Once again it’s that time of year when we break the bank buying gifts, break our vows to NOT gain the Holiday 15, and inevitably, we end up breaking our belts (and possibly TONS of bulbs trying to untangle that God forsaken mess of Christmas lights)!

Although I can’t stop anyone (including myself) from buying ALL THE PRESENTS and/or cursing so loud as you hang those stupid lights that you scare off all of the neighborhood children, I can, however give you some really amazing tips and tricks that I have learned to help keep you from battling the holiday bulge. If you remember my post from last year Ooops, I Think I Did It Again, the “struggle was real” with me. I ate everything I could, drank all that I could and ended up in a food coma with nothing but crumbs on my face and a vague memory of the button popping off my pants. Gross. Chocolate Banana Frosty Protein Shake

Happy #TastyTuesday peeps! My life is now complete! After years of having the same post workout combo (protein power mixed with water and a 1/2 of a banana), I decided it was time to mix it up a bit. After what looked like a science experiment gone horribly wrong, I came up with this delicious goodness. I found the original recipe online and made some tweaks to make it my own.

Blend in your handy dandy Ninja blender and enjoy!

This shake is a perfect post workout replenisher as is, but if you would like to make it more of a meal, make these modifications to make it more filling.

  • Add: 1 T nut butter
  • Add: 2 T uncooked oats
  • Use: 1 frozen banana

But if you would like to jazz up this shake a bit, pick and choose what you you would like to add and make your own version.

  • 1/2 c milk of your choice and 1/2 c cold coffee
  • 1-2 T cocoa
  • 1-2 T chia seeds
  • 1 c spinach
  • 1/4 c cottage cheese or plain greek yogurt

Tasty Tuesday – Protein Oatmeal Loaves

Happy #TastyTuesday! Today I am going to share with you my “go to” breakfast. I refuse to cook breakfast every morning. When I get up in the morning I am HANGRY and I don’t have time to fool around. I need food in my belly and coffee in my system ASAP. These little gems are waiting in my fridge for me every morning. All I have to do is pop one in the microwave and top it with a little Almond Butter and BAM – breakfast!

Ingredients:

  2 c dry oats
  4 1/2 c egg substitute
  2-3 ripe bananas (depending on size)
  1 scoop vanilla or cinnamon roll protein powder*
  2-3 heaping tsp cinnamon
  1/2 t baking powder

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350. Mix all ingredients EXCEPT oats into blender until smooth. Add in oats and blend until your preferred consistency. Less blending for chunkier loaves and more for bread like loaves. Lightly coat 6 mini muffin tins with Pam. Pour 1 c of mixture into each tin. Cook for 50-60 minutes. Let cool and store in fridge for up to 7 days.
