To some life means the beginning, to others it is an end. A blessing or a curse. A second or a century. Excitement or fear. A battle or a victory. Something that you run towards or something you run from. Love or hate.
It is something that in one moment is full every dream you have ever wished for and in the next breath it is all taken away. It is something that screams in your face so loudly you have to over your ears to drown out the noise or something that is so small and fragile that you fear the slightest movement will take it all away. It is everything you could ever imagine and it is nothing like you have ever seen. It is all things except for one – controlled.
You can live it, you can experience, you can survive it, you can create it and you can take it away – but the one thing you can’t do is control it. And that’s the funny thing about life. The more you try to control it, the more it causes a tailspin. Just when you think you have it all figured out, a wrecking ball hits you from behind leaving you feeling lifeless.
You can feel beat down and like you are a part of life’s cruel joke or you can figure out the secret to life. NO, it’s not finding the secret to controlling what life throws at you, but CONTROLLING the way you react to what life gives you. It’s choosing to control the only thing in life that you have 100% control over – your attitude. You will never be able to take away all the pain in the world or make your life perfect, but you can have a say in how you react to it. You can choose to look at a situation in a negative or a positive light. You may need to really search to see the light in some circumstances and not all situations will be bright and cheery with an optimistic attitude, but YOU are making the choice to see it in a better way. The next time life throws you a curve ball, realize that this is YOUR MOMENT! You can let the situation CONTROL YOU or you can take what the moment has given you and embrace it as if you had chosen it yourself.
“Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference” – Winston Churchill
“I discovered I always have choices and sometimes it’s only a choice of attitude.”
