Russian Roulette
Russian Roulette [ruhsh-uh n roo-let] n. a potentially lethal game of chance in which participants place a single round in a revolver, spin the cylinder, place the muzzle against their head and pull the trigger.
Lyrics from “Russian Roulette” by Rihanna
As my life flashes before my eyes
I’m wondering will I ever see another sunrise?
So many won’t get the chance to say goodbye
But it’s too late too pick up the value of my life
And you can see my heart beating
You can see it through my chest
And I’m terrified but I’m not leaving
Know that I must pass this test
So just pull the trigger.
Why would anyone make a decision knowing that it could potentially kill them? Playing Russian Roulette is a “game” of chance. You may survive, but you also have a 1 in 6 chance of dying. Why would someone gamble their life with those kind of odds? Anyone who would play this “game” has to be completely out of their mind and crazy, right?
Has your doctor ever told you that you need to lose weight? Have you been diagnosed with high cholesterol or high blood pressure? Do you eat fast food on a daily basis? Are you a tobacco user? Do you spend hours in the tanning booth? Have you ever been told that you are putting your life in jeopardy because of your lifestyle choices?
Are you doing anything about it? Are you trying to make healthier choices?
No?
Then you are playing Russian Roulette with your health. If you keep making poor health choices, you are gambling with your life. You might get lucky and live, but you also might be the unlucky one left holding a loaded gun.
Next time you want to make a poor health choice, ask yourself…is this worth dying for?
